About Us | Little Bear Interiors - The Best Furniture Store in Bozeman, MT
Little Bear Interiors has been known to surprise people the first time they walk in. Debra Young opened Little Bear Interiors in 2004. When she and her husband built their log home here, she had difficulty finding the refined rustic furniture they wanted in their home. She traveled across Montana, to Park City, UT, Denver, CO, and several others along the way in an attempt to give her home the unique rustic look she was after. After months of searching, with little success of finding the right furniture, Debra decided that a specialty furniture store with a niche for unique Montana made products, and refined rustic items was just what this area needed. When the space became available in four Corners, Debra leased the property and started working with local artists to acquire merchandise that in some cases is only available through Little Bear Interiors.
Even with the economy dropping in 2008, Little Bear Interiors was growing and expanding. Debra expanded into the building next door and remodeled both buildings connecting them into one large store. Now, with over 14,000 square feet of space, they can offer their clients more unique products for the entire home. You will often hear customers coming in to the store saying ”this is an incredible store – amazing -- I had no idea it was this large and this interesting”.
Little Bear Interiors has furniture and decor for every type of home. One recommendation may be to mix and match antique with new, as the rules of interior design are constantly changing and that the customers style might be more eclectic. This means adding a rustic antler lamp to your current traditional living room would be perfectly alright. Items are featured for every room in the house, including bath and bedding ensembles that are available in both ready made or the option of custom designs. They feature several lighting options including a wide variety of antler lighting, table top lamps, custom chandeliers, accessories, and a hardware collection from towel bars to drawer pulls. Little Bear Interiors also has extensive options of furniture lines that feature leather, beautiful fabrics and even buffalo leather.
The most memorable feature of Little Bear Interiors is the work from local artistsans. With more than 40 different local furniture craftsmen and fine artists’ their work is displayed throughout the showrooms. If you can not find what you are looking for in ready made pieces in the showrooms, custom orders are always welcomed. The design staff enjoys the opportunity to work with the customer and the local craftsman to create the perfect piece for you. With their relationships with so many artists, many times you can get something created that is the right size , the right colors and design that you imagined.
Don’t think that this is a store you can walk through once a year and see everything there is to see, though. Deb explained, “The whole store can change in as little as two weeks!” With items that are constantly being sold, and local artists dropping off their newest creations whenever they get a chance, Little Bear Interiors’ merchandise turns over at a very high rate. The decorating and merchandising staff is also always working diligently to freshen up the furniture groupings, rearranging the artwork and displaying the new merchandise as soon as it arrives.
Little Bear Interiors’ unique cabin and home merchandise is not the only thing that sets them apart. With only five full time employees, they have over 100 combined years of experience in business and interior design, and all five of the employees have owned their own business at one time or another. Debra believes that because they have this experience it makes them all dedicated workers. They each understand what it takes to make a business run, and though unloading a freight truck may seem daunting, they get it done and step up to make sure things are always looking their best.
Debra Young, the owner has over twenty years Corporate and Retail Management experience. She is a hands on business owner and cites her focus “to be one of the best retail experiences a customer will have is when they have visited Little Bear Interiors”. She manages the business, hires the employees, buys the merchandise, and seeks out what the next season will bring for interesting merchandise to incorporate in to the store that customers may not have seen anywhere else.
Among the staff Deb has established are design professionals, a five year dedicated merchandise specialist and a local artisan. The design professionals are available for small projects such as re-working a guest or great room or large projects that may require design and furniture fulfillment for an entire home or office.
